TRUST FUNDS

Alice Marchand Trust Fund

Mrs. Browne authorized our club to administer an BZ$8,000 Trust Fund that had been placed on Termed Deposit at Scotiabank.  Interest gained from this Deposit would then be used to assisted needy students wishing to attend secondary schools.  Since it was established, this fund has been used to assist students.

George Lebard Trust Fund

George Lebard was a member of our club, as well as a Peace Corp teaching at the B.H.S.A. (Belize High School of Agriculture) at the time known as B.J.S.A. (Belize Junior School of Agriculture).  When George had to leave Belize, he opened a Trust Fund on a Termed Deposit of $5,000.00 to be administered by the Rotary Club.  Again, the interest gained from this deposit is used to provide book grants to deserving and needy students wishing to further their studies.  Since its inception in, this Trust Fund has assisted many students.

Greer Grants

In 1999, the Greers visited Belize and befriended a student of Technical High School and pledged to assist him to finish his Secondary education and assist as many others as possible.  Habib Kar who then was the Vocational Director and responsible for the club's scholarship program suggested to the Greers that they make Rotary oversee the disbursement of said funds, which they readily agreed to.  The Greers sent US$540 to the club, and the club was able to assist 6 students from Technical High School and Escuela Mexico that year.  The Greers have since pledged to make this an annual contribution and in 2000 sent US$1000 to contine the program.  Unfortunately, all contact has been lost with the Greers, but the Rotary club has carried on with the program.
