Eye Mission August 2004Team of Eye Specialist and support crew headed by Sherry
Colburn and Dr. Ed Hurst worked at the Northern Regional Hospital from August 6
-8, 2004. Objective of the mission was to provide eye care, mainly
cataract extraction to those who could not afford it, free of cost. The
mission was successful as 26 persons were operated on. Another mission is
being considered for early February of 2005. The Rotary Club hosted the
medical team and provided transportation and food throughout the weekend.
The hospital facilitated the operating theater and some support staff. The
medical team paid their own trip to Belize.
The team went on a tour of the Lamanai Maya site before
leaving in the afternoon headed back to the USA.
