Civic Pride Campaign

World Rotaract Day, March 13th of every year, was set aside by Rotary International to commemorate the significant contribution that Rotaract clubs have given to the Rotary Organization throughout the years. Along with this tribute, Rotary International now refers to Rotaractors as Partners in Service. Rotaract Clubs and Rotary Clubs were asked to hold a week of activities at this time to promote the Rotaract clubs more.

The Rotaract Club of Orange Walk has taken this opportunity and organizes an Annual Civic Pride Campaign during this week. Activities in the past have included the sponsoring of church bulletins, distribution of garbage containers in public places, TV Talk Shows, Placing of advertisement on TV and Radio stations, Poem and Poster Competitions in the High Schools and Primary Schools, visits to the Primary Schools, also as a means to increase membership in the club, just to name a few.

The prime focus has been to educate the general public, and especially the children of our town, to do their part to make our town a clean one, s well as to instill pride in oneself.

Pan-American Day Festivities

This occasion, celebrated annually on the 12th of October, is the major fundraising project of the club. It has been organized since early in the 1980's, and includes several dances, the Miss Pan-Am Beauty Pageant, a parade through the main streets of Orange Walk Town and lots and lots of preparation and organization.

The project achieves several Rotaract objectives: (i) It develops leadership qualities in members; (ii) It provides an opportunity for the members to work as a group while serving the community; (iii) It provides entertainment and involvement to the community; and (iv) It enables the club to establish contact with the business community and other key people in the government, NGO's and other organizations.
